Newcastle University was formally established in 1963, but its origins as a college of Durham University go back to 1834. It is a member of the Russell Group of research-focused universities and currently has over 24,000 students in Newcastle and over 5,600 members of staff. It has three faculties - Medical Sciences; Science, Agriculture and Engineering; and Humanities and Social Sciences and covers a very wide range of disciplines. The University has strong links with many professional bodies which accredit our programmes as well as strong links with employers in the region.
