Candidates will usually have GCSEs at grades A* to C (or equivalent), including maths, English and a relevant science.

What apprentices will learn
  • work methods, including using specialist equipment and minimising hazards and risks
  • identifying and responding to customer needs
  • planning and setting up projects
  • manufacturing, assembling, disassembling and repairing components
  • fitting out and finishing boats
  • supporting commissioning of the boat

Before taking their end-point assessment, apprentices must achieve level 2 English and maths (equivalent to GCSEs at grades A* to C).

Professional registration

This apprenticeship is recognized by the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) at engineering technician (EngTech) level.
