Entry requirements

Set by employer. Apprentices will usually need a relevant science, technology, engineering or maths degree.

What apprentices will learn

  • knowledge of risk and safety management principles
  • proposing and implementing safety solutions
  • effective communications
  • leadership skills

Apprentices will take a risk and safety management master’s degree.

Professional registration

Depending on experience, apprentices may be eligible for Chartered Engineer status when they complete this apprenticeship.

How apprentices are assessed

A government-approved organisation must assess apprentices towards the end of their apprenticeship.

This end-point assessment ensures apprentices achieve the skills, training and any qualifications necessary to complete their apprenticeship.
