Entry requirements

Set by employer. Applicants must have achieved at least 5 level 2 qualifications (equivalent to GCSE grades 9 to 4 or A* to C), including English, maths and a science subject.

What apprentices will learn
  • how to handle animals calmly and safely
  • clinical skills
  • looking after injured or sick animals
  • preparing and maintaining veterinary practices
  • how to be tactful and sympathetic with pet owners

Apprentices will take a level 3 veterinary nursing qualification.

Professional registration

Apprentices who complete this apprenticeship will be eligible to register with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
