Set by employer. Candidates will usually have achieved level 2 (equivalent to GCSEs at grades A* to C) in four subjects, including English, maths and a science.

What apprentices will learn
  • how to use engineering knowledge and understanding to apply technical and practical skills

  • helping design, develop, manufacture, build, commission, operate or maintain products, equipment, processes, systems or services

  • effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • industry regulations

  • adapting to different situations, environments and technologies

  • BTEC level 2 foundation competence

  • BTEC level 3 development competence

  • BTEC level 3 development technical knowledge

  • before taking their end-point assessment apprentices must have achieved level 2 English and maths (equivalent to GCSEs at grades A* to C)
